House rules
Our site has house rules that apply to everyone, including our gardeners, suppliers, and external participants in our workshops.
Attendance at and participation in activities at MOES Tuinen is always at your own risk. MOES Tuinen guarantees that the location meets legal requirements regarding (fire) safety.
Below you will find a summary of our most important house rules.
MOES Tuinen is a place of relaxation and social well-being. Any form of discrimination, transgressive or hurtful behavior will not be tolerated.
Loud music and other audio (e.g., phones on speakerphone) are not permitted. Political expressions of any kind are not permitted.
It is not permitted to enter someone else's vegetable garden without prior permission
Permission obtained. It is prohibited to use another person's resources without prior permission. It is prohibited to harvest another person's crops without prior permission.
At MOES, you're expected to manage your vegetable garden like a good gardener, keeping it neat and tidy. Your crops shouldn't grow taller than 2 meters, and you're responsible for ensuring they don't grow outside your own garden (and thus cause inconvenience to others). Please report any diseases or pests in your garden to us immediately.
Growing potatoes is prohibited due to the risk of late blight (phytophthora). Growing sweet potatoes (tuberous root) is permitted. Planting rampant plants (such as mint and Jerusalem artichoke) is prohibited.
Growing in open ground. It is permitted to grow these plants in a sheltered environment, for example, in pots or garden beds. Growing prohibited crops, such as cannabis, is not permitted.
The use of chemicals is strictly prohibited. Other substances harmful to bumblebees and other beneficial insects in the greenhouse are also prohibited. Use only organic fertilizers. The use of artificial fertilizers is not permitted.
MOES gardeners are expected to have their vegetable gardens winter-ready by December 1st. This means, among other things, that summer vegetables must be pruned or removed, and fallen leaves must be removed. This is to reduce the risk of (overwintering) diseases and pests.
Common areas such as center and side aisles, restrooms, shed, and lounge must be kept clean and tidy.
You can dispose of your green waste in the outdoor green bin. You can also dispose of plastic bags and trays in the PD bin. Green waste is removed and composted, and PD waste is recycled. You must take other waste such as wood, cardboard, glass, and metal with you and dispose of it yourself.
Always keep children with you in your garden and in sight for their own safety, as our location contains a lot of glass and installations. Make sure children don't scream, shout, or run through the greenhouse.
Due to fire hazard, cooking is also not permitted at our location.
Pets are not allowed. We do have a cat to keep mice away, but we consider him a colleague :-)
