We are the Kolk family from Amstelveen, a true family of growers with roots in Aalsmeer and the Bollenstreek region. After decades of growing cut flowers, we launched MOES Tuinen Amstelveen in 2024 and transformed our greenhouse complex into thé premier location for growing our own fresh fruit and vegetables.

Founders of MOES Gardens Amstelveen Piet Kolk and Wouter Kolk

Grower family

We are the Kolk family from Amstelveen, a true family of growers with roots in Aalsmeer and the Bollenstreek. Since 1980, Piet and Gitta have run their business on Meerlandenweg, where they grew roses and cut hydrangeas until 2022.

In 2023, Piet and his son Wouter decided to repurpose the greenhouses and launched MOES Tuinen. We opened our doors in February 2024, and the business has since been completely transformed, adding additional parking spaces, a new water silo, new restrooms, a gardener's lounge, and indoor compost storage.

The value of growing your own

Vegetable gardening is growing in popularity every year, yet space is scarce in the Amstelveen region. Waiting lists for vegetable gardens at allotment associations are incredibly long, yet having your own garden has so much to offer. It's relaxing and contributes to a healthy lifestyle. Gardening helps us better understand the value of nature and biodiversity. Furthermore, working together promotes social cohesion. Plus: Instead of importing exotic fruits and vegetables from abroad, you can now grow them in our greenhouse, which is good for you, better for the climate, and truly sustainable.

Our mission is to allow as many people as possible to enjoy successful greenhouse gardening and thus, together, contribute to a better living environment.

Team MOES Gardens Amstelveen

Partners

MOES Tuinen Amstelveen is proud of its partnerships with the vegetable garden coaches from Backyard Goodness and De Inspiratietuin.

Backyard Goodness is an Amstelveen-based company owned by Cansu Hatipoglu. Cansu, trained by Charles Dowding, heads the Educational Garden at MOES Gardens, where the goal is to inspire and help others successfully grow their own organic vegetables year-round using the No-Dig method. To this end, Cansu gives various workshops and helps new gardeners get started.

The Inspiration Garden is run by Linda Grootfaam and Ynes Rios-de Feiter. They grow various exotic vegetables in this garden and offer workshops focused on letting you experience all the potential of your garden's crops.
